Track Review: edIT - "Battling Go-Go Yubari In Downtown L.A."

I'm about two years too late with this one, but edIT's 2007 album Certified Air Raid Material just made its way into my ears and they are definitely not complaining. The one track that stood out to me right away was "Battling Go-Go Yubari In Downtown L.A." Not only does it have a kickass song title, but the eerily-familiar glitchy synth coupled with the boomy drum beat make this song what it is and subtley reminiscent at times of artists like Burial and Amon Tobin. The vocals consist of samples from what sounds like a non-too-popular dance hit from '95, and a woman speaking in Japanese. edIT (Edward Ma) definitely knows his stuff and his album definitely will have a few tracks worth checking out for the Glitchtronica / Hip-Hop fan in us all.
